Winning the Lottery

Lottery Winners

A UK winner of the Euro Millions came forth to claim their £41 million!  £41 million, wow, that could change your life, don’t ya think.

Camelot, who runs the lottery, states there are already over 2,800 people in the millionaires club.

Now we all have played the various lotteries that are out there form time-to-time, even myself.  And I am sure we have sat down for just a moment, and let our imaginations wander across that still moment in time and thought of all we would do if we won and had all that money.

We could stop working and tell our boss to shove it, (I would never do that as I like who I work for and enjoy what I do), but there are those that may.  You could travel, give money to family and friends, save the whales, find world peace, etc.  We all can dream a bit.

And the money form the lotteries does go to good causes, various charities and the such, so they can continue their good work.

So all in all, a win-win situation.

Unless you are like me, and never win.  I did win £2.50 once, so I guess that does count.

A study was done in America many years ago, and it became dubbed as the lottery curse.  The reason was that many of the winners of the various lotteries in America found themselves worse off years after winning the lottery and all that money; in fact many found themselves going bankrupt!

Winning millions of dollars, Yen, Pounds, Euros, etc, is supposed to make your life better, not worse.  But people who come into a huge, life changing amount of money, don’t know how to handle it.  There has been research done on this and it is called inherited wealth.

Of course the other side of the coin is if you win big and go public about it, everyone and their mother will track you down to ask you for a few quid.  And it’s hard to hide those new homes, cars, and world trips away from everyone you know, so they can figure it out.

So I congratulate all those that have won the lotteries of lottery-past, and wish the best for those of us that will play in the future.  And how will you know if I ever win, you may never read a new posting from me again, and for some, they will hope I do win:)
