A man from Oakleigh Park North has been served with a Nevada court writ accusing him of scamming American citizens out of substantial sums of money . The writ, issued last Wednesday alleges that Aaron Gershfield, along with two co-defendants, used aggressive tactics to persuade Americans to take out payday loans worth hundreds of pounds. Papers filed by the state Attorney General to the US District Court claim that lenders Cash Today Ltd offered loans of up to £500 without credit checks or proof of income, which must be repaid the following day along with a fee of between $35 and $80.
It is purported that the 50 year old formulated, directed, controlled, or participated in the acts and practices of Cash Today Ltd. His company are accused of embarking on a campaign of deceptive and abusive collection tactics during his time as a director of Cash Today Ltd. Having secured borrowers bank details, the companys employees would then withdraw substantial sums of money, according to the writ.
Ivor Gershfield and Jim Harris are also accused of threatening consumers, breaching lending laws by failing to disclose the terms of the loans and selling loans without licenses.
